Logan Stutz Named Ian Fowler Executive of the Year

The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Sudbury Five General Manager and Head Coach Logan Stutz has been named the recipient of the Ian Fowler Memorial Executive of the Year award. The award symbolizes excellence in the front offices of NBL Canada franchises.
One of only three former NBL Canada players to become a head coach, Stutz was the 2016 NBL Canada scoring leader and most valuable player, and finished a three-year career with both the Niagara River Lions and the Windsor Express.
In their first NBL Canada season, the Sudbury Five finished with a record of 21-19, and averaged over 1,825 fans per game to the Sudbury Community Arena. Their two biggest draws were against the four-time NBL Canada champion London Lightning, as the Five brought 3,480 fans to the Arena on November 22 for a Five win; as well as 3,234 fans on March 24 for a victory against that same Lightning team.
"I've immensely enjoyed watching Logan seamlessly transition from a player in our league into the role of team executive this season," said Deputy Commissioner Audley Stephenson. "He's confidently led the Five through a successful inaugural campaign both on and off the court and his work this year will prove to be key building blocks for the franchise's future."
Stutz successfully acquired some of the top players in the NBL today, including Braylon Rayson (25.0 ppg, 149 3-pointers, 976 points) and Jaylen Bland (18.8 ppg, 527 points), as well as a successful trade for Maurice Jones Sr. (17.8 ppg, 2.06 steals per game).
A staple in the Sudbury community in his short time in the city, Stutz has led the team's community outreach to schools and community partners. Attending almost every community visit, Logan has been a significant influencer on the game of basketball in Sudbury.
