Logan Allen Strikes out 12 in Win over Hounds

MIDLAND - Logan Allen struck out a career-high 12 batters and reached six wins faster than any Missions pitcher in 11 years, as San Antonio beat the Rockhounds, 8-5, Sunday afternoon at Security Bank Ballpark.
The Missions overcame a 3-0 deficit by scoring all their runs between the 5th and 8th innings.
Webster Rivas homered, tripled, and drove in three runs while Peter Van Gansen slugged a two-run homer for San Antonio, which entered the day having scored a league-low 47 runs across their 13 previous games.
Allen (6-1) used 102 pitches in working six innings. He's thrown no fewer than six frames in a career-best six straight starts.
The Texas League leader in wins notched his sixth victory faster than any San Antonio pitcher since Josh Geer in 2007. Geer won 16 games that year and was voted the league's pitcher of the year.
Brad Wieck worked a scoreless ninth to register his second save in as many days, and his fourth of the year.
Fernando Tatis singled to extend his on-base streak to 19 games.
The series concludes this morning before the team opens a six-game homestand Tuesday night against Tulsa.
