Las Vegas Locomotives News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Sunday, December 12, 2010 - Las Vegas Locomotives kicker STEVE HAUSCHKA has signed with the National Football League's Denver Broncos and will handle kicking duties when the Broncos play at Arizona today, Sunday.
Hauschka played in the Locos' final six regular-season games and the UFL Championship Game victory over the Florida Tuskers after being signed on October 4. He was third in the UFL in scoring among kickers with 44 points, going 10-for-12 on field goals and 14-for-14 on extra points and twice won UFL Player of the Week awards.
The signings bring the total of 2010 United Football League players who have joined NFL clubs on either the active roster or practice squad to 23. UFL players signing to an active NFL roster are subject to a $25,000 transfer fee that may be paid by either a personal player payment or a NFL team payment.
Hauschka ended the longest game in UFL history with a 53-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in a 24-21 home victory over the Hartford Colonials on October 23, earning UFL Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the process. In the UFL Championship Game, Hauschka was 3-for-3 on extra points.
In only his second week in the UFL, Hauschka tied a league record by hitting four field goals in a 26-3 victory at Sacramento to earn the Special Teams Player of Week 5 vote. The strong-legged Hauschka hit field goals of 47, 44, 34 and 36 yards in the victory, equaling the mark set a week earlier by Florida Tuskers kicker Nick Novak.
Hauschka came to Las Vegas after spending 2010 training camp with the Detroit Lions. Prior to 2010, he spent two seasons (2008-09) with the Baltimore Ravens, playing in 17 games. Hauschka was 1-for-2 on field goals in 2008 then was 9-for-13 on field goals and 27-for-28 on extra points in 2009. He originally was an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2008.
Florida Tuskers wide receiver BRIAN CLARK has signed to the active roster of the Detroit Lions. Clark joined the Tuskers for the final regular-season game and the United Football League Championship Game. In the regular-season finale, Clark caught two passes for 59 yards, recovered a fumble and made a tackle. In the Championship Game, he caught four passes for 44 yards.
Clark came to the Tuskers after spending 2010 training camp with the Lions. Prior to 2010, he played four NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos (2006-07) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2007-09), seeing action in 34 games. Clark's career NFL totals include 11 catches for 100 yards, 29 kickoff returns for 636 yards and 18 total tackles.
