Reading Express News Release
The Injury bug and inexperience issues have had The Express off to a slow start for the first half of the 2010 season. The Express will be starting the second half of the season with several new players and many of them are very familiar local talent.
This week the coaching staff has been busy following leads and contacts and was able to sign the following local talent to the Express roster.
Nate Romig; a standout HS player from Daniel Boone High School and an All-American at Albright College. Nate is a 5'11" 205lb wide receiver. In his short time with the Express, Nate has picked up our offense very quickly and we expect to see an impact from him right away.
Elliot Seifert; a former standout Exeter Eagle and four year starter with Temple University. Seifert is a 6'8" 320lb right guard who has been in NFL camps and started at right guard in the AFL for the New York Dragons. I can't even tell you how big a signing this is for us. His practice last night was outstanding.
Scott Blum; Scott is a returning player to the Express. He was our starting center for 2 seasons here and did a great job for us. At 6'3" and 300lbs, Scott has the size and experience that we are looking for. He played his college ball at Rowan University, but made his home here in Reading while playing with the Express and still resides here. He looked great at practice last night as well. He is excited to be back on the field and we are glad to see him back.
Anthony Smith; Anthony comes to us from right down the road about 15 minutes from Pottstown High School. His college career landed him at Bloomsburg where he was just named the 2009 PSAC Defensive Player of the Year. He is a 5'11" 230 lb Line Backer and has incredible ball sense and field presence.
"We are looking to make a run here in the second half of the season. It's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication, but picking up these four local players will be a big boost to our team," commented General Manager and Head Coach Nowotarski.
