Local Product Pat Morris Named MISL Defensive Player of the Week

Philadelphia, PA, January 22, 2007 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Philadelphia native Pat Morris was named the League's Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day period ending January 21. The honor is his second such accolade of the 2006-07 season and the 12th of his eight-year career.

Morris continues to establish himself as one of the League's premier defenders both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The Philadelphia University product connected on his third goal of the season and registered one block in the team's 8-6 victory versus the visiting Detroit Ignition on January 20. Morris and the KiXX backline currently post the League's top-rated defensive unit, holding opponents to a mere 9.9 points per game. To date this season, he has recorded 12 points and 12 blocks (2nd team) in 10 appearances.

A four-time All-Star and All-League selection, all consecutively, Morris has recorded more than 250 goals and 400 blocks in his eight-year career and was named the 2004-05 MISL Defender of the Year after posting a League-high 93 blocks and 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) in 36 games. With this week's distinction, he has now received POW honors 12 times as well as a pair of Player-of-the-Month accolades.

Teammates Peter Pappas (Goaltender), Don D'Ambra (Offensive), Genoni Martinez (Defensive), and Edgar Bartolomeu (Offensive) also received weekly recognition this season. Pappas and D'Ambra have received two weekly honors each, Pappas for the seven-day periods ending December 3 and December 31; D'Ambra for the seven-day periods ending December 11 and December 31. Martinez was named the League's Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day period ending January 14, while Bartolomeu received Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors for the seven-day period ending November 26. Pappas was also honored as Goalkeeper-of-the-Month for December.

Morris and the rest of the KiXX prepare for a back-to-back weekend that commences versus the Chicago Storm on Saturday, January 27. The night, dubbed "Scout Night," offers special promotions and discounts to the area's boys scouts. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is scheduled for 7:05 pm ET with the action available live via webcast at www.wmssfm.com. The club concludes the series with a visit to the Motor City for a rematch with the expansion Detroit Ignition on Sunday, January 28. The contest at the Compuware Sports Arena is slated for a start time of 4:35 pm ET.
