Erie Explosion News Release

ERIE, PA - (1/8/09) The Erie RiverRats defensive secondary will be a little tighter with the addition of former Mercyhurst Prep stand out Lavonne Rowan. Rowan (6'1", 208) will rejoin Prep teammate Jovon Johnson giving the RiverRats a formidable secondary going into the 2009 season.

Lavonne was a three-year starter at defensive back at the University of Wisconsin. After his time with the Badgers he signed a free agent deal with the Oakland Raiders and spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles before playing in NFL Europa with the Frankfurt Galaxy in 2007. Rowan expects to sign in the Canadian Football League after his time with the RiverRats. "We are ecstatic that Lavonne has decided to join us in Erie. Not only the fact that he is a pro-caliber talent and, in fact, a local guy, but he also has experience working in tandem with Jovon. With these two and the talent we have in camp we are very excited at the possibilities these two create. Rowan is engaged to Tierra Harden and they have two children Damara Livingston and Lavonne Rowan III. He is employed by Sprint Communications and the family resides in Erie, PA.

The Erie RiverRats' season begins in March with a home opener scheduled for March 28th at 7 p.m. at the Tullio Arena. Come join the RiverRats of the American Indoor Football Association in their campaign for an Erie championship in 2009.
