Salem Stampede News Release
Salem, OR--Local standout Jeff Dunn, who played at Dallas High School, Linfield College and Corban College, has signed to play professional basketball with the Salem Stampede for the upcoming season.
Dunn, a 6'5" guard/forward, was nominated to the McDonald's High School All-American team in 2001 after a standout prep career that included All-League (Pac 9) Player of the Year status before spending his freshman and sophomore years at Linfield. At Linfield, Dunn earned All-Conference Honorable Mention during the 2002-03 season.
Dunn then played two years at Corban College (then Western Baptist) where he scored more than 20 points a game and earned All-American Honorable Mention status for a team that lead the nation in scoring and was the top-ranked team in the country for a month. Dunn was the fifth-ranked scorer in the nation his junior year.
Dunn said he learned about the team when his Dad brought him an article that appeared in the paper last year. "I'm really excited," said Dunn in an interview from his sales manager office at Willamette Valley Fruit Co. "I just got married recently and I didn't want to go overseas to continue my career, so when a professional team came to town it was like a blessing for me and my family. I'm in a good situation in life right now - I'm married, we're just getting a new house and I'm getting support from my job to play professional basketball - what more could I ask for?"
Stampede Director of Basketball operations Joe Becerra likes Dunn's game and attitude. "Jeff has established himself as one of the top scorers in the nation," said Becerra. "He shoots a very high percentage and has great range. He can also put it on the floor and get to the rim, then finish with either hand."
Becerra said one of the most important qualities Dunn brings to the Stampede is his experience winning basketball games. "He has been a winner at every level," said Becerra. "He is the ideal role model for kids to emulate."
