LAREDO, TX - The expansion Laredo Lobos of af2 announced today that the team has been assigned the first players in franchise history by the league office. WR/LB Eddie Giddings, WR/DB Mike McCullum and international K Daniel Hermosillo will form the building blocks for Head Coach Mark Stoute's 2007 squad.
The six-foot-two 220 pound Giddings is a powerful receiver who was named to 2006 All League Team in the IFL last year following a stellar collegiate career at Cheyney University. McCullum is an explosive defensive back with big play capability. A starter at Clarion University, he has also impressed at receiver and caught the eye of several AFL teams. Hermosillo, who hails from Mexico, is a strong leg international kicker with the potential to play a significant role on the Lobos special teams units this season.
"We are very excited to get Eddie, Mike and Daniel in the pack," Coach Stoute said. "They are not only fan favorites here in Laredo, having played here last year, but also outstanding football players and great young men. These are the type of players needed to build a championship caliber team."
