Longview: A two-run double by Tyler Madrid (Santa Ana) and RBI single by Blake Lively (Western Oregon) was just enough offense for the Black Bears as they held off a late Bend rally to win 3-2.
The Black Bears had runners at first and second before a double steal moved them each up a bag and Madrid clubbed his double over the right fielder's head to score two runs. Madrid eventually scored on a single by Madrid.
Mikey Murray (Hawaii Pacific) received his fourth win of the season after allowing just one run in seven innings. Murray struck out seven batters and allowed just two walks. Taylor Williams (Mt. Hood) came in with two out in the eighth inning and retired each hitter he faced for a four-out save.
The Black Bears next home game is Wednesday, August 8 against the Bend Elks. It will be Burgerville Family Night. Four general admission tickets, four sodas, and four hot dogs can be had for only $32.00 (extra tickets $4.00/extra package tickets $8.00).
