Columbus Lions News Release
COLUMBUS, GA (May 28, 2008) With five key players missing in action due to injury in the Florida game, the Columbus Lions of the American Indoor Football Association hope to use this upcoming bye-week as a chance for some players to fully recover.
Quarterback Joey Conrad (140-246-4, 35 TD's) is expected to return for next week's game, after sustaining a leg injury two weeks ago against Mississippi. Conrad dressed last week, but Coach Gibson decided to go with back-up Maurice Mullins instead.
Lions' Wide Receiver Gerald Gales' condition is still day to day as he is awaiting results from a MRI on his knee. Having sustained a leg injury against the Mississippi Mudcats in Week 10, Gales has sat out for the past two games.
Offensive Lineman Troy Bennett missed this past weekend's game with a forearm injury and is listed as probable for next week. Offensive Lineman Hagen Mason (rib) and Mike Jones (dislocated knee) sustained injuries during last week's game against Florida. Mason is expected to recover while Jones' dislocated knee is expected to hold him out for next week.
Defensive Back Turmarian Moreland and Defensive Lineman Thaddeus Bullard, both sustained foot injuries in Week 11 are in good condition to play against Florence for Week 14.
The Lions will be back in action next week against the Florence Phantoms on Friday, June 6th for "Business Appreciation Night." June 6th is also "White-Out Night" as fans can receive a 20% discount off single game tickets if they wear a white t-shirt. For more information, contact the Lions' front office at 706-322-3DEN.
