Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - After a win Thursday night, Orlando City SC (11-2-4, 37 points) begins a two-game roadtrip, starting with an away match against the Dayton Dutch Lions (7-4-5, 26 points) on Sunday, July 14, at Beavercreek High School in Dayton, Ohio. Kickoff for the match is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on USLNation.com.
"We've played at Dayton the last two years and they've always performed well," said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. "These upcoming games on the road will not be easy and will be a good test for us."
The Lions are coming off a victory over the Charleston Battery, topping the visiting Charleston side 2-1 at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl. New Sporting Kansas City (Major League Soccer) loanees C.J. Sapong and Kevin Ellis played the full 90 for Orlando while Midfielder Jamie Watson scored a brace in the 2-1 win. Ellis will be unavailable Sunday as he joins Sporting for their match against Toronto FC Saturday night. He will then re-join the Lions for their away match Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Dayton currently sits seventh in the USL PRO table with seven wins in 16 games played. The club is led by Forward Gibson Bardsley, who has six goals and four assists in 2013- both of which are team highs.
Orlando and Dayton have faced each other earlier in the season, with the Lions taking down the Dutch Lions 4-0 at Fifth Third Bank Field at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Four different Orlando players scored in the win while backup Goalkeeper Sean Kelley earned a clean sheet.
After the Dayton match Sunday, Orlando continues play on the road in Pennsylvania against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds Wednesday night. The two squads have yet to meet in 2013, with the Lions holding a 2-0-2 record all time against the Riverhounds.
