Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release
Wilmington, NC - The Wilmington Hammerheads are scheduled to travel for their return match versus the Charlotte Eagles on Saturday, July 13. Kickoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. at Queens University. This will be the Hammerheads' first road match in two weeks since traveling to Red Bull Arena to play the New York Red Bulls Reserves.
The Hammerheads hosted the Eagles at Legion Stadium on June 22nd in a match that left both sides scoreless. Both sides seized several opportunities during possession, but neither could finish by finding the back of the net before the final whistle.
Charlotte is currently tied with the Los Angeles Blues for fourth place in the USL PRO rankings. While on the other hand, Wilmington is steadily increasing in the ranks to hopefully claim a spot in the playoffs as they need to be in the top eight. They currently hold the ninth position overall.
The Wilmington Hammerheads are slowly closing out their road trips for the remainder of the season. Following this weekend's match in Charlotte, the Hammerheads will have a total of eight matches left during their regular season; three of which are away. Two of those three away games are next weekend: Rochester Rhinos on Saturday, July 19 and Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Sunday, July 21 after a change in the original schedule.
The Hammerheads will host their next home match on Friday, July 26 at Legion Stadium versus VSI Tampa Bay FC.
