November 10, 2008 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Columbus Lions News Release
The Columbus Lions are proud to announce the signing of Running Back Chad Cone. Cone, 6-3, 235 pounds, is a graduate of Savannah State University, where he played for three seasons. Cone recorded 282 rushing attempts for 1,388 yards with eight touchdowns on the ground and added 36 grabs for 516 yards with two touchdowns as a receiver in 27 career games. He is a native of Waycross (GA) and attended Ware County High School, where he was named first team All-Region in basketball and competed in the State Championships in track.
Cone attended the Georgia Force (AFL) training camp last year before being released at their final cut. Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson noticed him there and has kept tabs on him throughout the year, " Chad has 4.3 speed and he is a big, physical player. We just want to get him ball in space and let his physical gifts take over."
Cone will join 34 other players vying for a position on the Lions roster when they begin training camp in late February. For more information on the Columbus Lions please subscribe to the Lions e-newsletter at www.columbuslions.net.
