
Lions Sign Strong, Lose Dewalt to AFL Champs

November 8, 2010 (COLUMBUS, GA)- The Columbus Lions of the Southern Indoor Football League are proud to announce the signing of defensive back Jermaine Strong, and the signing of former wide receiver Lonnel Dewalt with the 2010 AFL Champion, Spokane Shock.
Defensive Back, Jermaine Strong (5-10, 185)- he played collegiately with the University of North Carolina where he started as a freshman at cornerback during the 2006 season. He recorded 18 tackles and 5 pass break-ups during the season. His most impressive performance was against Georgia Tech where he held All-American wide receiver, Calvin Johnson, to just 3 catches for 13 yards. Strong also forced a Johnson fumble after delivering a crushing hit immediately after Johnson made the catch.
Wide Receiver, Lonnel Dewalt (6-6, 225)- will trade one championship jersey for another as he recently signed with the 2010 AFL Champion Spokane Shock. Dewalt was the Lions primary red zone target leading the team in touchdown receptions (16) during the 2010 season. Dewalt hauled in 41 passes for 577 yards averaging a team high 14.1 yards per catch. Dewalt's best performance came against the Lafayette Wildcatters where he shredded their secondary for 10 catches, 190 yards, and 4 touchdowns.
