Columbus Lions News Release
COLUMBUS, GA (March 2, 2012) - Two days before their pre-season game, the Columbus Lions of the Professional Indoor Football League added two more defensive players in defensive end Armond Willis and defensive lineman Lawon Scott.
Armond Willis (6'1 243, Florida International) started his collegiate career out as a walk-on, but soon he found himself playing against the likes of college powerhouses Penn State University and the University of Miami-Florida in just his first season. Through his stellar play, Willis would earn a scholarship and finished his Panther career with 67 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
In 2010, after going undrafted Willis attended the NFL's Detroit Lions training camp. Last season, he split time between the IFL's Sioux Falls Storm and Wyoming Calvary gathering a combined 23 tackles and six sacks.
Also after going undrafted, Lawon Scott (6'1 332, Ole Miss) was signed by NFL's Dallas Cowboys just this past July. Scott appeared in over 40 games and started in 20 games during his four-year span (2007-2010) with the Rebels finishing his collegiate career with 57 tackles and two sacks.
Columbus Lions get ready for the 2012 regular season with pre-season action against the Team James All-Stars of Atlanta this Sunday March 4th at 6 p.m.
