Daytona Beach Thunder News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Damian Daniels recovered a Daytona Beach Thunder field goal blocked by Justin Rivers with 54 seconds remaining as the Columbus Lions withstood a late rally for a 46-39 World Indoor Football League victory before 1,946 at AFLAC Field at the Columbus Civic Center Saturday night.

Daniels also intercepted a pass in the end zone to preserve the Lions victory as they remained atop the league standing with a 5-1 mark. Daytona Beach fell to 1-5.

The Thunder erased a 32-16 deficit and tied it on Kwasie Kwaku's 7-yard touchdown pass from Tavaraes Woodley with 5:20 remaining. On defense, Kwaku made an interception that gave Daytona Beach a chance to go-ahead, but the Lion defense forced the field goal attempt.

After a sluggish first half by both teams, Columbus pulled away from a 13-10 halftime lead in the third quarter as Joey Conrad rushed for one touchdown and threw an 11-yarder to Silas Daniels while Eugene Goodman rushed 25 yards for a score.

Conrad finished with 222 yards and three touchdowns - one each to Jawarski Pollock (5 catches for 111 yards), Juval Winston (4-66) and Daniels (3-16). Wes Wilson had two field goals.

Kwaku finished with six catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Arena football great Barry Wagner had two catches for 44 yards and one touchdown. Woodley was 14 of 37 for 171 yards.
