Lincoln Stars and Food for the Hungry Team up to Raise $233,640 for Clean Water Initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars donated $10,620 from their Faith & Family Day on February 18.
The Lincoln Stars recently launched the Lincoln Stars Foundation, a 501c3 with local and global initiatives to provide access to the sport of hockey and build sustainable clean water solutions around the world. The Stars donated $5 from every ticket sold to the February 18 Faith & Family Day game to The Lincoln Stars Foundation. In turn, the foundation donated 100% of the money raised to Food for the Hungry, which used matching grants of $22 for each dollar donated.
As a result, Food for the Hungry will be using $233,640 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to build and maintain sustainable water solutions. Ryan Schiff, owner of the Lincoln Stars said, "I think the day was a tremendous success. I believe we have taken our first step forward in faith as it relates to the foundational impact the Stars can have in Lincoln and broadly throughout the world. We are so excited to have found a global partner like FH (www.fh.org), who goes to the hard places and walks alongside the world's most vulnerable people. It's no wonder they have access to such tremendous and explosive grant funding, the work they do is simply beyond measure. Having been with them in the mission field, I can confidently say this money will have a massive impact in the DRC. I feel so blessed to be able to say the Lincoln Stars are a part of the future of building sustainable water solutions in the DRC. I am praying that someday soon our team can even visit the DRC and see the impact our donation has had on the region. A HUGE thank you to Randall Davey, Milam Byers and the entire FH team for helping us to such a great success. I'd also like to thank Bryan Oleson and VOTA Band and all of Stars Nation simply the world's best fans who came out to support and be a part of our day. I can't wait to see how God multiplies our efforts!"
The 4th Annual Faith & Family Day (2019) event is already in planning stages with FH. Stay tuned to see how you can be a part of the fun and the impact.
