Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Dodgers' lefthander Ted Lilly struggled in his Epicenter appearance on Sunday, as the Inland Empire 66ers defeated the Quakes by a score of 7-1.

Lilly allowed a pair of homers, and a total of seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over six innings of work.

Inland Empire's Jimmy Swift took Lilly down the left-field line and out of the ballpark with two outs in the second, putting the 66ers in front 1-0.

Lilly got himself into trouble in the third, allowing three straight hits to start the inning. After getting the next two outs and keeping the deficit at a run, Lilly allowed his second long-ball of the game, as C.J. Cron went deep to left for a grand slam, opening the game up at 5-0.

Leon Landry, who had two of Rancho's six hits on the day, put the Quakes on the board in the fourth, as he swatted one off the foul pole in right field, his first homer of the year to make it a 5-1 game.

That's as close as the Quakes would get though, as Lilly (0-1) surrendered a two-run single to Brian Hernandez in the sixth, putting the finishing touches on the scoring at 7-1.

Inland Empire starter Max Russell (1-0) kept the Quakes off balance most of the day, as he allowed just one run on five hits over five innings. The 66ers' bullpen allowed just one hit over the final four innings of scoreless relief.

Andres Santiago, who was originally scheduled to start on Sunday afternoon, fired three scoreless innings of relief in his 2012 debut.

The Quakes (1-3) welcome the winless Lancaster JetHawks to town on Monday night, as the seven-game home stand to start the year continues. Angel Sanchez will make his Quakes' debut, while Wes Musick will throw for the JetHawks. Monday is Social Media Monday, as fans that follow the Quakes on Twitter and Facebook could win great prizes as part of the fun. Game time is 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter...Go Quakes!
