December 8, 2011 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
London Lightning News Release
Tonight, at the General Motors Centre, Oshawa fans witnessed the latest installment of the All-Ontario NBL Canada match-up. The first place Lightning were visiting the 6th place Power in the opening game of a 'home and home.' The last time these two opened a two - game stretch in Oshawa, the first game went to overtime.
"We had a great 3rd quarter at both ends of the court. We were able to move the ball well and played great defense. Each player on our roster contributed to the game tonight," said London Coach Micheal Ray Richardson:
After acquiring big man Anthony Washington, London was looking for a decided improvement in the rebounding department.
The first half was a battle with both 401 rivals playing hard and the score staying close; until the 3rd quarter. London outscored Oshawa 36-14 ending the quarter, with a score of 72-47, that the Power were not able to come back from.
The Lightning had five players in double figures, led by Eddie Smith with 20 points and Gabe Freeman, Shamari Spears, Rodney Buford and Shawn Daniels ending with 18,15,11 and 10 respectively.
Saturday night these two teams get right back at it at the John Labatt Centre in London at 7PM.
