Louisville Lightning News Release
LOUISVILLE, KY - Glenn Volk's Goliath performance powered the Louisville Lightning past the West Virginia Quantum Force 22-1.
The Quantum Force were no match for Louisville's, size, speed or athleticism. Leading West Virginia around the field as if they were a rabbit on string, Louisville's enforcing presence scored 12 first half goals to West Virginia's 1.
Volk's dominating pressure and athletic ability was too much for West Virginia's midfielders, and his 8 goals combined with 2 assists propelled the Lightning into the second half with a 12-1 lead.
For Volk there are lessons to learn to every game, even dominating ones.
"We try not to play down to our opponents level," said the Lightning's defender. "It's hard for teams to pick up the pace [while winning by a large margin], but we had to remember to show them [the fans] we could play at such a high level for 60 minutes."
The second half was a mirror image of the first. With 24 shots on goal and 10 goals scored, Louisville only allowed West Virginia to 5 shots on goal and zero goals scored.
The Lightning travel to St. Louis to face the Illusion on Saturday, December 19.
