Lightning Strikes PASL-Pro
Loveland, CO The Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro) unveiled its fourth team for the 2008-09 season with the addition of the Colorado Lightning. So far, eight US teams have paid their deposit to join the league and further members will be announced on a team by team basis in preparation for the league's October 25 opening night.
The newest PASL-Pro team will play at the Budwesier Event Center in Loveland, CO, where the CHL's Colorado Eagles have celebrated five consecutive years of sellouts at the 5,300 seat venue. Commissioner Kevin Milliken was joined by Lightning co-owners Don Tumminia, Shannon Clarke, and Brandon Smith and arena general manager Rick Hontz.
"This is a tremenous market for us with a first class facility and really typifies the type of situation we're looking for in terms of PASL-Pro," said Milliken. "We welcome Don, Shannon, Brandon and the Lightning into the league with open arms."
The team has yet to name a head coach, but has begun a search and has several candidates in mind. Tumminia will assume the role of acting general manager with Clarke the Head of Soccer Operations, and Smith the Head of Support Services.
Player tryouts will be held September 6-7 at the Fort Collins Indoor Soccer Club, Clarke said. Those interested in trying out should call the club at 692-1770 for details.
Season tickets are on sale now by phone at 619-0217. Individual game tickets, priced from $10 to $25, not counting additional fees, are set to go on sale September 15.
