St. John's Edge News Release
St. John's - Despite a solid fourth quarter by the St. John's Edge (22-13) in which they put up 34 points, it was not enough as the club fell to the London Lightning (22-12) 124-102 Sunday afternoon at Mile One Centre.
The Lightning used a strong third quarter to outscore the Edge 35-14 en route to victory. St. John's wrapped up their six-game home-stand with a very respectable 4-2 record and have two home games remaining at Mile One before playoffs begin.
St. John's Edge:
Coron Williams-St. John's player of the game, led the way for the Edge with a team-high 23 points, adding three rebounds and two assists. Wally Ellenson made 14 points, with four rebounds. Defensively, Desmond Lee chipped in with two steals.
London Lightning:
Royce White registered a double-double, as he led the Lightning with a game-high 25 points, adding 18 rebounds and seven assists. Ryan Anderson added 20 points for London accompanied by three rebounds.
Inside the Numbers
St. John's went 15-for-19 (79 percent) from the free-throw line, the club also scored 60 points off the bench. The Lightning went 48-for-97 (50 percent) from the field-goal line and scored 58 points inside the paint.
Up Next
The St. John's Edge head out on the road where they will kick off a four-game road trip beginning next Saturday against the Windsor Express. The team will return home March 31st to close out the season with a two-game series against the Niagara River Lions. All games will be streamed live on www.sjedge.ca.
