Lightning Fall to Rainmen
February 19, 2012 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
London Lightning News Release
Halifax fans packed the Metro Halifax Arena to see two of the top teams in the NBL Canada: the London Lightning and the Halifax Rainmen. A contest befitting play-off bound franchises ensued, with London losing their first game to Halifax this season, 104-78.
"We played a terrible game all around," explained Lightning Coach Micheal Ray Richardson. "We didn't perform well as a team and the final score reflected that."
London can still clinch home court advantage with a Quebec loss. They will use the final remaining games to send a message, try new things, and - most importantly - stay healthy.
Five Halifax players ending in double figures helped to keep London from winning this game. Eddie Smith, of the Lightning, led the way in the Lightning's losing performance with 34 points and 8 rebounds.
London does not play again at home until the first of March. They host Quebec at 7 PM at the John Labatt Centre.
