London Lightning News Release
(WINDSOR, Ontario) - Wednesday night, in front of 516 fans at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, the London Lightning were defeated by the Windsor Express, 92-91. The Lightning now stand at 5-2.
The Lightning had a one point lead with just seconds to go in the game, but ultimately fell short to the Express. The loss ended the Lightning's four game winning streak.
"I thought down low was one of our biggest strengths in the second half, but we did not focus on getting on the inside in the first half and that's what put us in the hole", said Head Coach Carlos Knox. "We need that intensity and focus from the beginning. We'll get back in the lab this week, focus on our mistakes and come back on Sunday with a much sharper game mentally".
The Lightning's top point scorer was veteran Marvin Phillips with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Emmanuel Little had 18 points and 14 rebounds while Jonathan Mills had 10 points and led in rebounds with 16. Al Stewart had 15 points and led in assists with eight.
DeAndre Thomas was led the Express in scoring with 17.
The Lightning play the Express again on Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Budweiser Gardens. Fans are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. The Lightning players will also be in custom camo print jerseys which will be signed and auctioned off after the game, with all proceeds benefitting Toys for Tots.
Tickets are available through the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
