Lightning Complete Trade, Announce Several Transactions

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league announced OL/DL Josh Kline and Ira Watley have been acquired from the Central Valley Coyotes in exchange for WR/LB Joseph Taula and claim order position.

In addition, the Lightning announced the following addition roster transactions:

OL/DL Humberto Padilla and WR Ryan Heller placed on injured reserve list

OL/DL Braeden Gates and OL/DL Jesse Sogelau placed on "left squad" list

WR/DB Alan Flemming, DL William Horton and WR/DB Willie Johnson placed on re-assignment

DL Alex Asi and DL Travis Tofi placed on "refused to report" list

Kline, 24, appeared in nine games during his rookie campaign last season for the Amarillo Dusters and amassed 5 tackles on the defensive side, while catching one pass for 14 yards offensively. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound lineman spent his college football career at Northern State (S.D.) University (NCAA) and returns to the Northern California region after competing in his high school career at Vacaville High.

Watley, 24, enters his third season in the af2 after spending his first two seasons with the Coyotes and Mahoning Valley Thunder. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman has appeared in eight games throughout his career, posting 3.5 tackles. Last season, Watley had one tackle for Central Valley in four games.

Watley finished his college football career at Cumberland (Tenn.) University (NAIA) where he garnered All-Mid South Conference first team honors in 2006 and was a Don Hansen NAIA East All-Region honoree in 2005.

Taula split his rookie season as an "international status" player with the Lightning and Tri-Cities Fever last year, appearing in nine games while registering 7.5 tackles and one pass breakup.

The Lightning open the 2009 af2 regular season on Saturday, March 28 against the Central Valley Coyotes with a Week One road matchup at Selland Arena, starting at 7:30 p.m. Both teams face a Week Four rematch in the Lightning home opener on Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena.
