Amarillo, TX 3/16/09 - In a preview of the regular season-opening matchup for the Amarillo Dusters and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, the Dusters defeated the Yard Dawgz 51-37 in a preseason scrimmage at the Amarillo Civic Center Monday night.

Fifth-year Duster Craig Fulton, Jr. earned offensive player of the game honors, hauling in six catches for 52 yards and two scores-all coming in the first half. Dusters quarterback Matt Basseuner completed 10 of 16 passes in the first half for 99 yards and three scores, leading Amarillo to a 35-24 advantage at the half.

The Yard Dawgz fought back to begin the third quarter, with fullback Freddie Rollins bulldozing into the end zone from one yard out to draw Oklahoma City within five, 35-30. Amarillo's defense would stand tall for the remainder of the second half, though, forcing three Yard Dawgz turnovers and holding the visitors to just one touchdown the rest of the game.

Meanwhile, the Dusters offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half, with Collin Drafts stepping in to take snaps at quarterback. Drafts completed a touchdown pass to Brent Craft near the end of the third quarter, making the score 42-30 after the Keita Iitzuka extra point.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Dusters, getting a rushing touchdown from Ironman of the Game Dantrell Gabriel and a 22-yard field goal from Iitzuka to salt away the victory, 51-37.
