Kentucky Horsemen News Release

Lexington, KY -The Lexington Horsemen look to capture their second national title in franchise history on Saturday when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on the undefeated Sioux Falls Storm in United Bowl II. Kick-off in the United Indoor Football title game is set for 8:05 p.m. ET and the game will be carried live on UPN Channel 5 in Lexington and on WLAP 630-AM with Gary Ball and Randy Wilson. Live audio also will be available at www.wlap.com.

The second-seeded Horsemen (14-2), the UIF East Division Champions, are coming off a 47-34 win over Rock River last Saturday in the UIF Semifinals in Rupp Arena. Lexington, which began the 2006 season with a franchise best 7-0 start, is 6-2 all-time in playoff contests. The Horsemen claimed the 2004 National Indoor Football League title with a 59-38 win at Sioux Falls.

Lexington and the top-seeded Storm (16-0) are meeting one another in playoff action for the third consecutive season. Sioux Falls, which did not face the Horsemen during the 2006 regular season, knocked Lexington out of the 2005 UIF Playoffs with a 62-58 win over the Horsemen in Rupp Arena in last season's semifinals.

"Sioux Falls is a solid team on both sides of the ball," Horsemen head coach Mike Zuckerman said. "They are not 16-0 for no reason. This will definitely be the best team that we have seen all year long. We have to take this like we would any other game and go out and play football."

Horsemen quarterback Eddie Eviston, the league's most potent passer, leads Lexington's dynamic offense. Eviston has completed 216-of-331 passes for 2,600 yards with a league-best 63 touchdown passes. Eviston is averaging 173.3 yards passing per game. Wide receiver Harry Lewis, who has already set the UIF's single-season records for receiving yards and receptions, is averaging 68.6 yards per game with 22 touchdowns. Lewis has caught 88 passes this season for 1,097 yards.

In last week's win over Rock River, Lewis caught a season-high 10 passes for 95 yards with a touchdown. Eviston proved to be a dual threat in the game, rushing five times for 39 yards with a touchdown in addition to throwing four touchdown passes. The Lexington victory in the UIF Semifinals avenged two regular-season losses to Rock River.

The all-time series between Lexington and Sioux Falls is tied at 2-2. The Horsemen won their regular season meeting with Sioux Falls during the 2005 season before falling to the Storm in the UIF Semifinals that year.

Sioux Falls is led by quarterback Terrance Bryant, who has thrown for 2,463 yards with 54 touchdowns this season. Bryant is averaging 153.9 yards per game. Running back Marques Smith is averaging 48.5 yards per game on the ground with 14 scores. Smith has rushed for 776 yards this season. Three receivers - Ken Horton, James Terry and Casey Veenhof - have each accumulated 500 or more yards receiving this season. Terry is averaging a squad-best 55.1 yards per game receiving.
