Let's talk from December 3rd to the 9th
Published on December 3, 2012 under Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Monday December 3, 2012 - Because the health and well-being of its athletes being a priority in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Player Support Program (PSP) was created in 2009 to help players manage life's challenges and resolve personal problems before they become more serious. They can receive help in person, by email or phone thanks to a toll free number by communicating with the resource person within their team, a staff member or with the director of the PSP. A network of external stakeholders has also been developed in order to adequately respond to players and monitor situations if necessary.
In order to better promote the program and improve its effectiveness, the League has launched an awareness campaign to be held annually during the first week of December with the slogan "Let's Talk". As part of this awareness week, you can watch a video that has been prepared or by consulting the description of the program in the POLICIES/PROGRAMS section of the QMJHL website.
This program provides personalized support in a timely manner or on a regular basis and this, in complete confidentiality.
The League and its teams are collaborating to form a group of internal stakeholders who are ready and able to respond to the expressed needs of the players. The Director of the PSP and key individuals from each team have the responsibility to educate, advise, refer and ensure a follow-up with the players when they are experiencing difficulties. It should be noted that the League offers a high level of professional services in sports medicine, athletic therapy, nutrition and fitness.
This program is designed to ensure the well being of our players, so let's talk!
