B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that UBC running back Chris Ciezki has signed a contract with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The three-time Canada West All-Star finished the 2006 season with 1,082 yards on the ground (9.2 per carry avg.) and established both a UBC and Canada West record with 14 rushing touchdowns. Ciezki also became just the third UBC back to hit the 1,000-yard mark joining current Lion and former Thunderbird Mark Nohra on the exclusive list.
Ciezki played three seasons at UBC, recording 2,423 rushing yards on 317 carries (7.6 avg) and scored 28 touchdowns. He also added 260 yards through the air on 28 catches and chipped in another two touchdowns.
Prior to his days as a Thunderbird, Ciezski starred with the Edmonton Huskies (CJFL) and became the first player in Canadian junior football history to rush for 1,000-plus yards in three consecutive seasons.
"Chris is a very talented player and he is well-equipped to compete for a position on our club," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono.
