OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, (Nov. 15, 2015) - The Texas Legends grabbed their first win of the season on the road against the Oklahoma City Blue 105-95 Sunday afternoon.
Dez Wells sunk a long ball seconds into the game to give the Blue an early advantage they would hold until the 10-minute mark. Allen Durham had back-to-back layups followed by a jumper from Tu Holloway to give the Legends the lead they would hold through the final buzzer. Holloway paced the Legends through the first with 11 points while Brandon Ashley defended the boards with 3 rebounds and 3 blocks. The Legends went up by as many as 12 in the first half, but Dakari Johnson's 10 points helped the Blue rally within five at halftime.
The Blue came out of the locker room shooting 50% overall and 40% from long-range but the Legends were firing off 55.3% and hit 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. Texas, led by a combined 30-point effort from Jamil Wilson and Murry, went up by 22 in the third quarter and looked to have sealed the deal, but Oklahoma City persisted. The Blue shot 60% from beyond the arc and outscored the Legends 35-23 in the fourth quarter, but the comeback fell short and Texas returned home with a 1-1 record.
The Legends' starters all tallied double-digits led by Jamil Wilson with 29 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Holloway followed closely with 26 points adding 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Ashley and Murry added 16 each and a combined 15 rebounds and Durham powered out 10 points and 7 boards.
Dane Miller came off the bench to lead the Blue with 16 points while Dakari Johnson added the only double-double of the game of 14 points, 11 rebounds.
The Legends will host the Austin Spurs in their home opener Friday, Nov. 20 at 7pm at Dr Pepper Arena. For more information or the full season schedule visit www.TexLegends.com.
