
Legends dominate Pittsburgh

Canton, Ohio-------The Canton Legends continued their dominance of AIFA North Division with a decisive victory over the visiting Pittsburgh Riverrats by a score of 45-11 in front of a crowd of 2,500. With the victory, the Legends remain atop the North Division with four wins and zero losses. It also was an extra special night for the fans with hometown favorite Chris Speilman and fellow Buckeye Legends Bobby Olive(Legends head coach), Dee Miller and Jeff Graham in attendance for their annual Buckeye Legends Night.
Canton was led by a devastating defensive effort by the entire defensive squad. Only giving up three points until giving up Pittsburgh's only touchdown with 0:06 left to play in the game. Leading the way on the defensive side of the ball were defensive back JoJo Polk with two interceptions,Thomas Mathews(Ohio State) with seven tackles and Eddie Robinson terrorizing the Riverrats quarterbacks with four sacks. Also, contributing to the Legends energized defense were Cody Smith(former Massillon standout) making his first start and Deforest Hart each with an interception. Justin Westfall, Tomas Rodriguez(Kent State) and Rashan Hall(Canton McKinley/Kent State) added to the defensive punishment with a sack apiece.
Offensively, the Legends were led by the two quarterback system of Kevin Mason and Scott McMullen(Ohio State). Mason threw 7 for 15 for 71 yards and three touchdowns and added a fourth TD on a one yard run. McMullen went 6 for 9 for 43 yards and a TD. On the receiving end of those passes, Maurice Lee(Ohio State) hauled in two scores, while Chris Archie and Randell Lane both added a score apiece. Maurice Lee also added a 5 yard dash to the end zone for a score.
The Legends next game is Sunday March 11 vs. the Lakeland(Fl) Thunderbolts on their home field. The war on the floor can be viewed live by logging onto www.aifatv.com. The Legends next home game, College Night, is friday March 23 vs. the Reading Express. Gates will open at 6pm with the game kicking off at 7:05pm.
