
Legends defeat Soilders

Game two kicked off with a bang for the Soilders and then they got into foul trouble early. The Soilders started off 11-6 until 4 fouls in 2 minutes caused them to go over the 5 fouls per quarter limit. The Legends capitalized on half of those free throws bringing the game to a point with 8 minutes to go. Then the Legends with the help from Satterfield's defense and Tate's and Klaibers rebounding 4 and 8 respectively brought the Legends up 1 at the end of the 1st. Erik Rhinehart leads the way for the Soilders with 7 points Jermaine Tate has 9 for the Legends as they take a 25-24 1st quarter lead. The Second quarter saw the Legends work on both sides of the floor as newly acquired Legend got his first bucket steal and assist in 2 straight possessions. Klaiber 9 and Tate 7 both added to their rebounding totals as the Legends controlled the boards 26-19. The Legends though saw a 10 point lead slip away in a little as 2 minutes. Missed shots by Klaiber and Thomas saw the Soilders go the other way with Edwards shooting a deep three and Rhinehart driving to the hole and sinking the free throw to bring the game within 4. Jermaine Tate leads all scorers at the half with 15 and Klaiber has 10. Erik Rhinehart for the Soilders leads the way with 12 as the Legends take a 55-49 advantage going into the break. The Third quarter starting out as an up and down battle as the first 15 points for each team was traded back and forth. Then the Soilders went on a 7-0 run until an electrfying dunk by Rashad Woods over Ryan Edwards sent the Armory in a frenzy. The Legends keep the defecit to 2 down 81-79. The Legends as they always do went off like a rocket in the fourth quarter with a 20-4 run in the first 8 minutes. And it was all the Legends the rest of the way as they finished the fourth quarter 38-23. Top Scorer for the game was from the Soilders Erik Rhinehart who had 31 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Edwards had 22 points for the Soilders. Leading the way for the Legends was Gordon Klaiber who had 21 points 18 boards Jermaine Tate had 20 points and 10 boards and Lloyd Johnson had 19 points. Newcomer Rashad Woods put in an execptional debut with 16 points. The final score the Albany Legends 117 and the Kankakee County Soilders 104. Game Three is tomorrow evening at the Washington Avenue Armory start time is 5:00.
