December 22, 2011 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Albany Legends News Release
Albany, New York - The Albany Legends announce a new professional league affiliation with the Independent Basketball Association located in the mid west. The IBA will feature several mid-west teams such as the Kankakee Soldiers, Gary Splash, Battle Creek Knights and Holland Blast and will also offer a winter and spring season to member teams. The move was made to maintain a level of quality basketball while further reducing travel costs due to the geographic proximity.
The IBA Commissioner, Barry Bradford, former Continental Basketball Association player and owner of the Kankakee Soldiers will bring a great level of integrity and commitment to the IBA. The Legends continue to be in constant contact with the IBL and the IBA since an excellent working relationship exists between both leagues and options continue to be explored to make us all stronger. For the Albany Legends, basketball quality, community and commitment to player development has become the Legend's hallmark and that will continue full speed ahead.
The IBA has adopted the 22 second shot clock for games where the Legends will play a 12 game home schedule in the spring, April and May 2012 time frame.
