International Basketball League Names Player Of The Week For First 10 Weeks

Published on June 12, 2010 under International Basketball League (IBL) News Release

Week 1 was Kendrick Cornelius of the USA All Stars is the IBL's first ever player of the week. In two games, Kendrick scored 66 points; the first game, he scored 13 points but more impressively in that game- his team- the USA All Stars won a game versus a more regular IBL team, the- then 3-0 Holland Blast. The next night, in a USA All Stars loss to Kankakee, Kendrick Cornelius put up 53 points.

Week 2 was former NBA player- Kenny Satterfield of the Albany Legends (for the week/time period ending on April 12th, 2010). In three games that week, the Legends' point guard averaged over 22 ppg but most importantly, Satterfield led his team to a 3-0 start. Satterfield collected his 2010 game high of 28 points on April 12 against the Battle Creek Knights. His 5+ assists per game and impressive double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds, during a Sunday game (second game of a three game series with Battle Creek) and 51% shooting from field goal range were instrumental in the Legend's 3-0 season start at Albany's historic Washington Avenue Armory.

Week 3 was point guard Nate Menefee of the Olympia Reign (for the week/time period ending on April 18th, 2010). Point guard Menefee averaged 29.0 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game over his first two games in the IBL, but most importantly, Menefee led his Olympia Reign team to a 2-0 start, both wins considered major upsets at the time (over powerhouse teams- the Tacoma Tide and then the Bellingham Slam on back to back nights). Menefee was a 2-time All American point guard from Evergreen State University (near Olympia Washington). Menefee is considered by many as one of the top talents not in the NBA radar, but it is expected that he will be in that discussion soon- "No doubt about it" says Olympia head coach Steve Smothers.

Week 4 was Jacob Stevenson of the Bellingham Slam. Jacob Stevenson scored 36 points, had 10 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds in an April 23rd win over the Vancouver Volcanoes. Stevenson has performed consistently well in all aspects of the game in this 2010 season so far; in fact, on the season, Stevenson is averaging (after 3 games) 29.3 points, 7.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game.
