Lexington, KY - The Lexington Legends scored all seven of their runs over the final three innings in a 7-3, come-from-behind victory over the Greenville Drive on Sunday afternoon in Lexington.
The Drive (9-27) got off to a strong start, as Jagger Rusconi belted a solo homer in the fourth, and Jhonathan Diaz took a shutout into the sixth, but a two-out error in the bottom of the sixth brought home the tying run for the Legends (17-17).
The wheels then came off from there. After a walk and another Drive error extended the bottom half of the seventh, Jeison Guzman put Lexington ahead for good by smacking a two-run triple off the wall in right-center.
An eventful bottom of the eighth began with a solo homer by Lexington first baseman Nick Pratto. After the next pitch hit Seuly Matias, Drive pitcher Devon Fisher and manager Iggy Suarez were ejected from the game. Later in the frame, a three-run homer by Dennicher Carrasco made the score 7-1 in favor of Lexington.
Frankie Rios capped the scoring for the Drive by smacking a two-run homer, his first of the season, in the top of the ninth as part of a two-hit afternoon.
Diaz received a no-decision despite an outstanding start for Greenville. The southpaw allowed just the one unearned run over six innings while striking out six.
Garrett Davila (1-1) got the win with seven terrific innings for the Legends, as he gave up one run on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Game three of the four-game series begins at 7:05 on Monday night in Lexington. Right-hander Alex Scherff (0-3, 7.25) will start on the mound for the Drive, and the Legends will send left-hander Daniel Tillo (1-1, 3.72) to the hill.
