League Best Pulaski Mariners Set to Return Home

The league leading Pulaski Mariners return home for two series beginning on Saturday. The Mariners oppose the Princeton Rays and then take on the Bristol Pirates.

The series against Princeton begins on Saturday and features two of the better pitching clubs in the Appalachain League. The Rays' team ERA rests at 2.64-only two points ahead of the Mariners. Princeton's Jose Alonzo has allowed one earned run in his two starts.

Bristol comes to Pulaski on Tuesday for a three game series which will end on Friday. This is Bristol's first season as an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and fans will have their first chance to see a Pirates team since 1989. Bristol outfielder Maximo Rivera brings a hot bat to Pulaski; in six games Rivera has a .375 batting average.

The Mariners counter with some of the best players in the Appalachian League. Pitcher Daniel Missaki has not allowed a run over 15 innings of work and has two wins already. Catcher Wayne Taylor has been a force at the plate with his .522 batting average-tops in the Appalachian League. His three home runs are also the second most in the league.

Pulaski is offering some fine promotions across the week to provide even more incentives to come to Historic Calfee Park. Saturday night is Virginia529 night where any student with an honor roll worthy report card receives free admission to the game, and will be honored on the field.

Sunday night is the first Slyder's Kids Club game. Members of Slyder's Kids Club receive one free ticket to the game, a hot dog and drink, and a free T-shirt.

Thursday night is Craft Beer night, and Friday night we celebrate Independence Day. All general admission tickets are free on the 4th of July courtesy of the Town of Pulaski.
