LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Law have been assigned defensive specialist Ty Johnson and wide receiver-defensive back B'Jay Jones. The pair was acquired in a trade with the Peoria Pirates. The 6'0 200-pound Johnson played from 2000-01 at Langston University, an NAIA Division II school in Langston, Oklahoma. The past two seasons he played semi-pro football for the Concord Colts in Concord, California. Last season he intercepted seven passes.

"I was playing semi-pro ball and it gave me a chance to keep my name out there," said Johnson. "It was interesting and it helped me get a workout with the Arena Football League San Jose Sabercats which is how Peoria found out about me."

Johnson and Jones grew up together in Vallejo, California. Johnson's parents are godparents to Jones and vice versa.

"It is exciting to play some more with Ty," said Jones. "We played on all the other levels together and I am happy we get to play pro ball together."

The 6'3" 200-pound Jones spent four years also at Langston University from 2000-03 after completing a standout career at Vallejo High School where he teamed with Johnson. Jones completed his B.A. in Criminal Justice at Langston.
