Lauderdale, Salvato Tabbed Can-Am's Players Of The Week

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League's official statistician, PA SportsTicker, has named New Jersey Jackals C Matt Lauderdale and Sussex Skyhawks RHP Matt Salvato as the Teamline Direct Batter and Pitcher of the Week.
Lauderdale batted .500 in six games this past week with two home runs, seven RBI and a .875 slugging percentage. He collected 12 hits, including three doubles, with four runs scored and an on-base percentage of .538. The Roswell, GA resident in the 8-0 victory over the Atlantic City Surf this past Saturday night went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double, a run scored and a run batted in. On the season, Lauderdale is hitting .308 with eight home runs and 29 runs driven in.
The 27-year-old was a ninth round selection of the San Diego Padres in the 2003 draft. He spent from 2003-2006 in the Padres farm system before coming over to New Jersey in 2007. Last season with the Jackals, Lauderdale batted .295 with eight home runs and 34 RBI.
Salvato becomes the third straight Skyhawks player to receive weekly honors. The Milford, CT resident was solid in the 5-0 win over the Nashua Pride in game one of a doubleheader this past Saturday. Salvato hurled a complete game shutout giving up three hits and three walks while striking out six Pride batters. He is 9-3 on the season with a 4.82 ERA in 11 starts.
This is Salvato's second season of professional baseball. Last season, the 24-year-old split time with Worcester and New Haven County going a combined 2-3 with a 2.78 earned run average in 45 1/3 innings pitched.
