Latendresse, Desjardins Named Players of the Week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, February 13, 2006 (QMJHL) - Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Guillaume Latendresse and Quebec Remparts goaltender Cédrick Desjardins were named offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from February 6th to 12th.

In three games, the Drummondville Voltigeurs player totalled six goals and three assists (nine points), while maintaining a +8 (plus/minus) differential. His best performance came on the road, last Wednesday against the Gatineau Olympiques as he notched one goal and three assists in a 6-4 win. Also, he scored three times Friday against the Olympiques, and added two other goals against Baie-Comeau, when he registred the winning goal when the clock was indicated only one second to play in the third period; Drummondville won 3-2.

Philippe Dupuis (5-6-11) of the Wildcats, Alex Bourret (2-8-10) of the Cataractes and Martin Karsums (6-2-8) of the Wildcats were also considered.

The defensive player award goes to Quebec Remparts goaltender Cédrick Desjardins. In three road games, he won three times, while maintaining a 1.67 goals-against-average and a .953 save percentage. Last Friday against Acadie-Bathurst, he was brilliant, stopping 42 shots in route to a 5-1 win.

Other players considered for the defensive player of the week award were Nathan Welton (2-7-9) of Moncton, as well as Patrick Coulombe (2-4-6) of Chicoutimi, and Maxim Mallette (1-3-4) of Gatineau.
