Kokomo Jackrabbits News Release
KOKOMO, IND. - Emporia State University's Wade Hanna continued his impressive start with the Kokomo Jackrabbits Saturday, June 4.
The starting right fielder drilled a pair of doubles and tallied an RBI, compiling his second successive multiple-hit effort in an 8-4 loss at the hands of the Hannibal Caveman. He wasn't the only star for field manager Matt Howard's club, though. Designated hitter Caleb Stayeon of Ball State University drilled a two-run home run in the opening frame, helping lead the home side to an early 3-0 advantage much to the delight of nearly 1,300 fans at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
Kokomo's early lead didn't hold up in the middle of a three-game home stand, though. The Cavemen tallied single runs in the sixth and seventh and added six runs over the eighth and ninth frames to piece together a late-innings comeback. Starting pitcher Nick Floyd of Ball State University turned in six strong innings for the Jackrabbits with five strikeouts, but the bullpen, which has been among the Prospects League's best through eight games, struggled for the first time, surrendering seven runs on eight hits over the last three frames.
The Jackrabbits (3-6) wrap up the current home set and Jax's weekend-long 90s Workout Party Sunday, June 5. The Lafayette Aviators come to town for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch.
