Bloomington Thunder News Release

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Thunder scored the game's only goal late in the third period and kept their playoff hopes alive with a 1-0 win over the Huntsville Havoc on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Another defensive affair was kept scoreless until 6:35 remaining in regulation on a power play when a slow roller behind the net by Curtis Megginson was collected by Nic Polaski, who fed a crashing Mike Henderson for his fifth goal of the season and fourth against the Havoc.

B.J. O'Brien earned a 40-save shutout while Kevin Genoe took the loss with 33 stops. The Thunder were 1-of-3 on power plays while successful on both penalty kills.

The Thunder's playoff hopes remain intact with the win coupled with the Mississippi Surge's home loss to the Peoria Rivermen 4-3 on Sunday. If the Surge lose both of their remaining games and the Thunder win their remaining three contests, the Thunder would earn the final playoff spot.

The Thunder visit Peoria on Tuesday before returning to U.S. Cellular Coliseum Friday and Saturday to face the SPHL-leading Pensacola Ice Flyers. For more information on the Thunder, call 309-434-2980 or visit Facebook, Twitter (BLMThunder) and www.bloomingtonthunder.com.
