Saugerties Stallions News Release

MOHAWK VALLEY, N.Y. - The Saugerties Stallions failed to make it two wins in a row on Friday as they fell 7-5 against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs.

Alex Canney took the bump for his second start of the season and struggled early on as the DiamondDawgs scored two runs in the second inning on a double from Zach Brush.

Canny locked in from there however as he didn't allow another run during the four innings he pitched.

The Stallion offense provided Canney with a lead before his exit with a 4-run third inning capped off with the first home run of the year for Saugerties which came off the bat of Jake Skrine.

In the very next inning, the Stallions would get one more as Garrett Michel drove in Colin Mackle with an RBI single.

The score would stay at 5-2 up until the seventh inning when the DiamondDawgs began to bark up the tree of the Stallions bullpen.

Garrett Musey hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning then the DiamondDawgs capitalized off of a struggling TJ Lopez the next inning by scoring four runs to take back the lead.

Lopez allowed four hits and a walk while giving up four runs in what would be his season debut.

Billy Hoffacker would slam the door in the top of the ninth to secure the victory for Mohawk Valley.

The Stallions will look to return to the win column on Saturday as they return to Cantine Field for a battle with the undefeated Amsterdam Mohawks with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
