Late Chill Comeback Falls Short

November 20, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
St. Charles Chill News Release

St. Charles, Mo. - For the fifth time in the last six games the St. Charles Chill outshot their opponent but the Chill played from behind for most of the night and a third period goal that stretched the lead to 2-0 was too much to overcome for the home team.

The Chill (2-8-2) and the Beast (7-6-1) skated a scoreless and evenly played period in the first before the Brampton dented the scoreboard early in the second period on the power play.

With Tyler Barr in the box for interference, the Beast got on the scoreboard first when Andrew Fornier scored his team-high seventh goal on assists from Rob Collins and Jamie VanderVeeken. Midway through the second period the Chill power kill was put to the test again, fighting off a two minute 5-on-3 to keep it a one-goal game.

The game would teeter on the edge in the third with the Chill missing two breakaway opportunities that could have tied it before Brampton added a second goal on their own breakaway at the 14:19 mark. St. Charles would continue to battle. After what looked to be a goal was waved off the Chill turned it up another notch. A great play by Kyle O'Kane along the boards allowed him to set up a pass to Martin Hlinka who would snap off a shot blocker side to close the gap to 2-1 but St. Charles could not net the equalizer.

The Chill is back on the ice this weekend when they renew the battle for the Show Me Cup with the Missouri Mavericks in Kansas City with the puck drop set for 7:05. You can catch all the action at www.talkSTL.comor by downloading the TalkSTL app on your mobile phone.

St. Charles is back on home ice next Wednesday at 7:05 before Pink the Rink night November 30th at 7:05. Single-game tickets start as low as $5 and are available through MetroTix and at The Family Arena box office.
