This past week the NFL's Dallas Cowboys signed United States Football League MVP KaVontae Turpin to a three-year deal, the Las Vegas Aces won the Women's National Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup and the Indoor Football League awarded an expansions franchise to Tulsa for the 2023 season. Highlights from this week come from the United States Football League, XFL, Indoor Football League, Major League Football, Women's National Basketball Association, NBA G League, BIG3, Major League Soccer, National Women's Soccer League, United Soccer League Championship, United Soccer League One, Premier Lacrosse League, National Lacrosse League, Professional Box Lacrosse Association, ECHL, 3ICE, and American Ultimate Disc League.

FOOTBALL

United States Football League

Twenty-one and counting. That's how many USFL players have signed to compete for jobs on NFL rosters during training camp. That number does not surprise John Peterson, director of player personnel for the USFL. And he expects more to follow in the coming months. "It's provided an opportunity for these players," Peterson said of the USFL. "The NFL has been able to watch film from our games each week and see who they want to evaluate further. They really had a chance to get a good evaluation of each player, either on tape or in person. ‚¬Â

The XFL is back in St. Louis, and although we don't know yet if the "BattleHawks" name is coming back too, the excitement is strong again. 5 On Your Side's Frank Cusumano talked to the new man in charge of the XFL in St. Louis, Anthony Becht.

Canadian Football League

The Toronto Argonauts announced they have signed American QB Khalil Tate. Tate, 23, most recently spent time with Edmonton after he was signed by the West Division team in January. The 6'0, 216lb signal-caller spent four years at the University of Arizona (2016-2019) where he accounted for 6,318 passing yards and 57 passing touchdowns, while rushing for 2,285 yards and another 18 majors on the ground.

Indoor Football League

The Tulsa Oilers, proud affiliate of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's San Diego Gulls, are bringing indoor football back to Tulsa for the first time since 2014 via the purchase of an Indoor Football League franchise. "Tulsa fits all three areas we look for in a new franchise," said IFL Commissioner Todd Tryon. "Location, venue, and ownership.

The Fort Wayne Komets announced that the club has entered into an affiliation agreement with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL, coached by Komet Hall of Famer, Colin Chaulk.

Kansas City Mavericks Owner, Lamar Hunt Jr. announced that the Mavericks have entered into a new multi-year affiliation agreement with the NHL's Seattle Kraken. Premier Hockey Federation

The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) in association with the Minnesota Whitecaps Hockey Club announced that the team will be relocating from TRIA Rink in St. Paul, MN to Richfield Ice Arena in Richfield, MN beginning at the start of the 2022-23 PHF season. The move allows the Whitecaps to secure a venue that will provide a permanent locker room and training facility for its players. The lease agreement between the Whitecaps and the arena was officially approved by a Richfield City Council vote on Tuesday, and extends through April of 2038 with a run of three five-year intervals.
