Orlando Pride forward Marta has been ruled out after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in her left knee during the Pride's March 26 match at the North Carolina Courage. Following the injury, Marta has been placed on the Season Ending Injury list. "We're absolutely heartbroken for Marta," Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. "She's an incredible leader and we'll of course miss that on the field this season. But if you know anything about Marta, she will face this challenge head on like she does with each training or game, and we know she'll do all she can to continue leading the team off the field. We look forward to helping her through this recovery so she's back even stronger. ‚¬Â

Major League Rugby

Old Glory DC announced that Head Coach Andrew Douglas is departing from the organization effective immediately. As the first and only head coach in the history of Old Glory DC, Coach Douglas joined the team before its first official MLR game, leading the team through a four-game exhibition season in 2019, five games of the pandemic-shortened 2020 MLR season, and the team's first full MLR season in 2021. At the time of his departure, Douglas was the longest-tenured head coach in the league. The team anticipates establishing an interim coaching structure for the balance of the 2022 MLR season while conducting a world-wide search for its head coach of the future.

Old Glory DC has named former NOLA Gold Head Coach Nate Osborne as Interim Head Coach for the balance of the 2022 Major League Rugby season. Osborne, a native of Australia, comes to Washington, DC, after four seasons as Head Coach of NOLA Gold, having led the team since its inaugural season in MLR and through the 2021 MLR season.

After 1,035 days and 30 consecutive Major League Rugby matches (regular season, playoff, preseason) away from home, the Toronto Arrows made their long-awaited return home. The result - a narrow 20-14 defeat to Rugby ATL - might not have been what the 2,000 fans on hand at York Lions Stadium had hoped for, but after 34 months of waiting, the scoreline was always going to play second fiddle to the momentous occasion itself.
