Last Chance to Sign Up for Siskey YMCA Camp

Charlotte Eagles Summer Camps are underway and we are spotlighting the Siskey YMCA Camp this week!

The camp will run July 29 - Aug 2 even if you haven't signed up yet there is still time.

All Eagles camps are run by the players, this week we are highlighting Jorge Herrera, Christian Meza and Camp Director Matt Gold!

Jorge Herrera was born in Bogota, Colombia. He spent much of the early part of his professional career playing for Independiente Santa Fe, Atlético Nacional, Deportes Quindío and Millionarios in Colomobia. In 2007 Herrera was signed by the Charlotte Eagles. He was a member of the Eagles when they won the 2008 USL Second Division Championship and was a runner up to teammate Dustin Swinehart in the 2008 USL2 MVP race. Herrera has made over 100 appearances for the Eagles. He spent the early part of the 2012/13 season playing for Atletico Huila in Colombia before returning to Charlotte. Herrera leads the team in scoring with six goals and two assists in 15 games this season.

Christian Meza played his collegiate career at Bradley University for the Bradley Braves Men's Soccer team from 2008-2011. Additonally in 2010, Meza played for the Ogden Outlaws in the USL Premier Development League. Meza signed with USL Pro club Charlotte Eagles in April 2012 and returned for the 2013 season. He also appeared for MISL club Chicago Soul FC during their 2012-13 season. Meza scored the game winning goal in the Eagles most recent game against the Wilmington Hammerheads last Saturday, July 13th.

Camp Director Matt Gold grew up in San Antonio, Texas where he attended St. Stephen's Episcopal School. He would choose to play college soccer for The Ohio State University from 2007-2010. While in college he played for the Austin Aztex U23 of the USL PDL. Gold was selected by Toronto FC in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. He made his pro debut against the Seattle Sounders on April, 30 2011. He was signed by the San Antonio Scorpions in February of 2012. Prior to the 2013 season Gold was signed by the Charlotte Eagles. He has played in all 18 game for Charlotte this season.
