A Look at the Coaches:

Las Vegas Locos Head Coach: Jim Fassel

Overall UFL regular-season record: 10 - 5

About: Fassel's career regular season record as a professional football coach is 68-58-1. He had a record of 58-53-1 in seven seasons as the head coach of the New York Giants in the NFL and a record of 10-5 in his time as head coach of the Locos.

Virginia Destroyers Head Coach: Marty Schottenheimer

Overall UFL regular-season record: 1 - 0

About: Schottenheimer is the sixth winningest coach in NFL history. His NFL regular season record is 200-126-1. He won his UFL debut in Week 1 with a 23-13 victory over the Omaha Nighthawks.

The Game:

For only the second time in United Football League history, two teams with 1-0 records will face each other. This time around the teams are fighting for sole possession of first place in the league standings as the Virginia Destroyers play their first-ever game at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex against the two-time defending UFL champion Las Vegas Locomotives.

The Destroyers are coming off a 23-13 win in Week 1 at the Omaha Nighthawks, while the Locos took a 23-17 decision from the Sacramento Mountain Lions at Hornet Stadium to open the 2011 campaign. The Locos hit the road for a second consecutive week and look to come home with another big road victory.

The only other 1-0 vs. 1-0 game in UFL history was between the Florida Tuskers and Locos on Oct. 14, 2009 at Sam Boyd Stadium. Florida defeated Las Vegas in that contest, 29-15, behind three Brooks Bollinger touchdown passes and a defense which racked up six sacks - still a UFL record.

This will be the fourth straight game the Locos have played away from Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas (at Hartford Nov. 20, 2010, Championship Game at Omaha Nov. 26, 2010 and at Sacramento Sept. 17, 2011). The Locos are 6-2 all-time in regular-season road games with three straight wins during the 2010 season before falling to Hartford on the last day of the season.

The UFL seating capacity for the Virginia Beach Sportsplex is 14,000.

The Series:

This matchup is an extension of the most intense UFL rivalry to date - in a way. The Destroyers are the relocated Florida Tuskers and feature many players from the Tuskers' roster last season. There are 47 players on both teams who played in the UFL's best rivalry to date in the Locos vs. the Florida Tuskers.

The Locos and Tuskers played each other six times in 2009 and 2010, finishing 3-3, with Las Vegas topping Florida in both of the previous UFL Championship Games.

Storylines:

Clement Shines in 2011 Debut

Quarterback Chase Clement had an efficient opening game for the Locos, completing 20 of 28 pass attempts for 233 yards. He also added 32 yards rushing and scored the Locos' first touchdown of the 2011 season on a 3-yard run in the first quarter against Sacramento. The performance was enough to earn Clement Week 1 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors, along with Virginia running back Dominic Rhodes, from the UFL. This is Clement's first season as the full-time starter for the Locos after being named MVP of the 2010 UFL Championship Game.

Locos Breaking Records

Clement and wide receiver Samie Parker set a UFL record with their 83-yard pass connection during the Locos' opening game against Sacramento. Their connection topped an 80-yard pass-and-catch from Josh McCown to Lorenzo Booker for the Hartford Colonials on the opening day of the 2010 UFL season, which also came against Sacramento.

Balanced Attack Fuels Locos Offense in Week 1

Coach Jim Fassel's offense kept the Sacramento Mountain Lions on their toes during the teams' Week 1 matchup last Saturday. With a balanced mix of run and pass play calls (25 run and 30 pass), the Locos gained positive yardage on the ground (114 yards) and through the air (222 yards). Clement hit seven different receivers throughout the game, and DeDe Dorsey (51 yards), Marcel Shipp (35 yards) and Clement (32 yards) each provided a solid contribution to the run game.

Defense Bottles 2010 UFL Offensive MVP

An impressive debut from the Locos front seven held reigning UFL Offensive MVP, Corey Ross, to only 48 yards rushing on 14 carries. By holding Ross to a modest 3.2 yards-per-carry average, the Locos defense was able to force Sacramento to rely on its passing game as the Mountain Lion offense attempted to play catch-up throughout the second half. Additionally, the defense forced a fumble on Ross' first carry of the season, which was recovered by the Locos.
