Laredo Lemurs News Release
LAREDO, TX - The Laredo Lemurs have released their much anticipated 2014 schedule highlighted by the home opener scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 7:30pm against the 2013 Northern Division Champion, Fargo-Morehead RedHawks.ÃâàThe Lemurs host the RedHawks in a four-game series before taking on the Winnipeg Goldeyes in a three game set to finish off the opening seven-game home stand.ÃâÃÂ
With the departure of the El Paso Diablos caused by Triple-A baseball moving into the market that leaves a hole in the American Association South Division that will be filled by the 2013 Central Division Champion, Wichita Wingnuts.ÃâàThe Wingnuts have played in the last two American Association Championship Series and have lost both.ÃâàLast year the Wingnuts posted a league best record of 68 wins and 32 losses.ÃâàWith the Wingnuts moving to the South Division, that will leave four teams in the North Division, four teams in the Central Division, and four teams in the South Division, for a 12 team league.ÃâàThe Lemurs will play the Wingnuts 19 times in 2014, with 9 contests taking place at Uni-Trade Stadium.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
The Lemurs will take on two Can-Am League teams in 2014 with both of them visiting Uni-Trade Stadium.ÃâàThe two teams that will visit Laredo have not been announced yet.ÃâàThe first interleague series will take place on May 30th, the second will begin on July 11th.ÃâÃÂ
The Lemurs longest home stand of the season will take place during the dog days of August.ÃâàThe Lemurs will be home for eight straight games starting on August 21st as they play host to the Wichita Wingnuts in a four game series.ÃâàThen the Amarillo Sox will come to town starting on August 25th through the 28th for another four game set.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
The Lemurs longest road trip of the season will take place starting on July 15th through July 24th.ÃâàThe Lemurs first stop on the 10 game road trip will be in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against the Canaries.ÃâàThe Lemurs will then make their first trip in team history to St. Paul, Minnesota to take on the Saints for a three game set.ÃâàFinally, the Lemurs will stop in Wichita to play the Wingnuts to wrap up road trip.ÃâàÃâÃÂ
In 2014 the American Association will welcome back the All-Star game.ÃâàThe last time the American Association held an All-Star game was back in 2010.ÃâàThis year's All-Star game festivities will take place in Winnipeg on July 28th and 29th.ÃâàThe All-Star break will split up a Lemurs home stand with the Grand Prairie AirHogs playing the Lemurs on July 25th through the 27th.ÃâàAfter the All-Star break the Lemurs will welcome in the Amarillo Sox starting on July 30th through the August 2nd.ÃâÃÂ
The rest of the Lemurs 2013 schedule is highlighted by 30 of its 50 home games falling on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday.ÃâÃÂ
