Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, Texas - The Bucks beat Corpus Christi 5-1 on Monday at the LEC in Game One of their second round series. In Game Two rookie Bucks forward Chris Korchinski ended the longest game in Bucks franchise history by scoring in double overtime to complete a 5-4 come from behind victory. With the 14th overtime win in franchise history the Bucks take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Games Three and Four will be in Corpus Christi on Thursday and Friday. Game Five, if necessary, will be at the LEC on Sunday with a 4 p.m. start. Fans can take advantage of four tickets for $48. For more info call (956)-718-BUCK (2825).

BUCKS BEACH BASH

- The Bucks are having a Beach Bash during the entire second round against the Corpus Christi Rayz. Fans are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and other beach gear when they come to the games. Their will be leis for sale at the games to complete the mood.

BUCKS VERSUS OPPONENT IN REGULAR SEASON

- CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ -

2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 8-4-1 against the Rayz in 2006-07. The Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2 on 10/21 at the American Bank Center in the season opener for each team. The Rayz beat the Bucks 5-3 at the LEC on 10/31. Laredo beat the Rayz 3-2 on 12/03 with three third period goals. On 12/06 Laredo beat Corpus 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Jeff Bes at the LEC. On 12/22 the Bucks beat the Rayz 5-4 in overtime on a goal by Adam Rivet at the LEC. Kevin Reiter stopped 33 of 34 shots on 01/27 in a 2-1 victory for the Bucks at Corpus Christi. On 01/28 the Bucks blew a 4-1 lead with seven minutes to play and fell 5-4 in a shootout. The Rayz beat the Bucks 3-1 at the LEC on 02/11. Corpus Christi beat the Bucks 6-1 at the LEC on 02/14. Laredo beat the Rayz 4-3 on the road on 02/24. The Bucks rallied for a 2-1 overtime victory on 03/04 at Corpus Christi as forward Serge Dube scored the game winner. On 03/11 the Rayz returned the favor with a 2-1 victory over the Bucks at the LEC. The Bucks closed the regular season on 03/24 at Corpus with a 5-2 win as Steve Simoes scored two goals.

2005-06 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 10-2-1 against Corpus in 05-06. The Bucks were 6-1-1 at the LEC and 4-1-0 in Corpus. Overall the Bucks outscored the Rayz 48-24.

All-time: The Bucks are 46-15-2 all-time against Corpus Christi, outscoring the Rayz 248-148. The Bucks are 25-7-1 at the LEC against Corpus.

LONGEST GAME

- The Bucks 5-4 2 OT win over COR on 04/17 in Game Two at the LEC was the longest game in franchise history encompassing 95:34. The previous longest was Game Four vs. AUS in the 2003 Southern Conference Finals which went 90:15 and ended in a 4-3 Bucks loss.

DOUBLE OT RECORD

- The Bucks are now 3-1 all-time in games that go to double overtime after their 5-4 win over COR on 04/17 in Game Two.

BUCKS ALL-TIME IN SUDDEN DEATH

- The Bucks are now 14-3 all-time in sudden death after a 5-4 2 OT win over COR in Game Two on 04/17. Laredo is 9-1 at home, having won eight straight, and 5-2 on the road in playoff overtimes.

BUCKS OVERTIME PLAYOFF MOJO

- After beating COR 5-4 in double overtime on 04/17 in Game Two the Bucks have won at least one overtime game in each playoff series in franchise history with the exception of the 2005 Southern Conference Finals against Amarillo.

BUCKS GAME ONE MOJO RETURNS

- The Bucks have played 13 Game Ones in their brief history. The Bucks are 11-2 in Game Ones after beating COR 5-1 on 04/16. In the first round Laredo lost 4-3 to RGV on 03/30 in Game One.

BUCKS GAME TWO HISTORY

- The Bucks are 7-5 in Game Twos in franchise history after beating COR 5-4 in 2OT on 04/17 in Game Two.

WHAT IN THE WORLD? - The Bucks beat COR 5-4 in 2 OT on 04/17 in Game Two. In overtime the Rayz had six power play chances, including a five-on-three opportunity. Laredo finally won the game on a power play chance of their own at 15:34 when forward Chris Korchinski scored.

POWER PLAY ERUTPS

- The Bucks exploded for three power play goals in a 5-4 2 OT win over COR on 04/17 in Game Two. Previously Laredo had registered a single power play goal in each playoff game before erupting for multiple man advantage tallies.

DEFENSIVE LAPSE

- The Bucks gave up four goals in a 5-4 2 OT win over COR on 04/17 in Game Two. In the first six games of the playoffs Laredo had allowed just 10 total goals.

MULTI GOAL MOJO

- Bucks forward Jeff Bes scored two goals in a 5-1 Game One win over COR on 04/16. It was the second straight game Laredo has had a multi goal scorer. In the regular season the Bucks were 25-1-1 when a player scored two goals or more in a game.

HIGH WATER MARK

- The Bucks scored a playoff high five goals in a 5-1 Game One victory over COR on 04/16. In Game Two they scored five more in a 5-4 2 OT victory matching it.

LOW GOALS ARE GOOD

- The Bucks have allowed 14 goals in seven playoff games and lead the post-season giving up just 2.00 goals per. Laredo was third in the regular season at 2.66 per game allowed.

SHUTOUT STREAK ENDS - Bucks goalie Eric Marvin put together a shutout streak of 123:28, which dated back to Game Two against RGV in the first round. The string ended in Game One against COR on 04/16 in the third period. The franchise record is held by David Guerrera of 140:56 in 2004.

- This is the 13th playoff series in Laredo Bucks franchise history. The Bucks have made the playoffs in all five seasons and have a 10-2 record in playoff series. All-time the Bucks are 43-23 (0.652 win %) in the playoffs.

SCORING FIRST LAST YEAR WAS BIG

- Laredo went 9-2 when scoring first last post-season. The 11 first goals by the Bucks were the most in the CHL playoffs. This playoff campaign Laredo is 5-0 when scoring first.

- GAME TWO --- 04/17/07 - TUESDAY - vs. CORPUS CHRISTI ---The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks got a goal from rookie forward Chris Korchinski 15:34 deep into double overtime to beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-4 in Game Two of their Southern Conference semi final. With the 14th overtime win in franchise history the Bucks take a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Kevin Reiter stopped 41 of 45 shots in 95:34 and got the win to run his post-season record to 3-1. Vogel stopped 46 of 51 in 95:34 and fell to 3-6 in the playoffs. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Corpus Christi 4 in sudden death.

- GAME ONE --- 04/16/07 - MONDAY - vs. CORPUS CHRISTI --- The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks led wire-to-wire as they beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-1 at the LEC on Monday night in Game One of the Southern Conference semi-finals. Forward Jeff Bes had a pair of goals as the Bucks take a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Eric Marvin stopped 22 of 23 shots and improved to 3-0 in the playoffs. Ron Vogel allowed five goals on 44 shots and fell to 3-5 in the playoffs. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Corpus Christi 1.
