Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The Laredo Bucks picked up five of a possible six points in three games played during the past week. The Bucks have an 8-1-1 record with 17 points and remain in first place in the Southeast division. The Bucks rallied for a 7-4 come from behind victory over Corpus Christi on Friday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Saturday, Laredo traveled down to Rio Grande Valley and shutout the Killer Bees 6-0 at the Dodge Arena. Tuesday night the Amarillo Gorillas defeated the Bucks 3-2 in a shootout at the LEC. Laredo is on the road in Austin this Friday and Saturday. The Bucks return home on Sunday against the Odessa Jackalopes. NEXT UP
· The Bucks travel to Austin to battle the Ice Bats this Friday and Saturday at the Bat Cave. Laredo returns home on Sunday to host the Odessa Jackalopes at 4 p.m. Sunday is another Laredo Morning Times Family Night. For $40 dollars you receive four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four bags of popcorn.
BUCKS VS. UPCOMING OPPONENTS
AUSTIN ICE BATS
· The Bucks are 2-0-0 against Austin this year. Both games have taken place at the LEC. The Bucks beat Austin 5-1 on 10/26 and 3-0 on 10/31. Last year Laredo was 3-7-0 versus the Ice Bats.
ODESSA JACKALOPES
· This is the first meeting of the year between the teams. Last year Laredo was 3-1-1 against the Jackalopes. The Bucks went on to beat Odessa three games to two in the first round of the President's Cup playoffs.
WHAT IS THIS POINTS THING?
· In the sport of hockey teams play for standings points. A team receives two points for every win and one point for every loss in overtime or a shootout. A team does not receive any points for a loss in regulation time.
PRETTY DARN GOOD
· The Bucks have 17 points so far during the 2003-04 CHL season. Thru ten games the maximum points the Bucks could have earned is 20 total, so the Bucks have earned 85% of all possible points this year.
SUSPENSIONS
· Bucks forward Mike Amodeo was suspended Monday afternoon for three games by the Central Hockey League, he currently leads the league with 96 penalty minutes. Amodeo started serving his suspension on Tuesday night against Amarillo and will miss both games against Austin this weekend. With this current suspension the Bucks will have lost 6 man games to disciplinary reasons this year.
LOTS OF SHOTS
· The Bucks have fired 186 shots in the last five games, an average of 37.2 over that stretch. Laredo has topped the 30 shot plateau in five straight games and eight of ten this year. The Bucks are 5-1-0 when out shooting the opponent.
FEEL THE POWER
· Laredo has scored on the man advantage in seven of ten games this year.
BIGGEST WIN
· The Bucks 6-0 victory over the Killer Bess on Saturday, 11/08 was the largest margin of victory this season for Laredo. The previous biggest win was by five goals in a 7-2 win at Corpus Christi on 10/25.
FIRST TRIP TO EXTRA TIME
· The Bucks lost 3-2 in a shoot out to Amarillo last night. It was the first time this year the Bucks have gone past regulation time (60 minutes).
BUCKS STREAK COMES TO AN END
· The Bucks franchise record 12-game home win streak came to an end with a 3-2 shootout loss on Tuesday night. The streak included seven games that dated back to the 2002-03 regular season. The Bucks last previous loss at home in the regular season was on February 11, 2003, by the score of 3-2 versus Austin.
STREAKING
· Bucks forward Patrik Nilson has recorded a point in ten straight games. In eight of those ten games he has also scored a goal. Nilson is tied for the CHL lead with ten goals.
BUCKS WEEKLY GAME RECAPS
· 11/11/03 â TUESDAY â Amarillo Gorillas goalie Shawn Degagne was outstanding as he backstopped his team to a 3-2 shootout win over the Laredo Bucks in front of 5,694 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Gorillas picked up their fifth straight win, amazingly all by the score of 3-2, and ended the Bucks franchise record 12-game home win streak. Degagne was outstanding as he stopped 35 of 37 shots and all five in the shootout

· 11/08/03 â SATURDAY â The Laredo Bucks dominated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-0 at the Dodge Arena in the first ever regular season meeting between the border town rivals. Bucks forward Patrik Nilson had two goals, his CHL leading ninth and tenth of the season, to power the leagues best scoring attack. Marco Emond stopped all 26 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Rio Grande Valley 0.

· 11/07/03 â FRIDAY â Friday night the Laredo Bucks scored four goals in the third period for a spectacular 7-4 comeback win over the Corpus Christi Rayz in front of 6,125 frenzied fans at the LEC. Rookie defenseman Gabriel Proulx scored the game winning goal at 9:46 of the third, just 46 seconds after forward Patrik Nilson tied it with a power play goal. Seven different players scored for Laredo. The Bucks avenged their only loss of 2003-04 and improved to 7-1-0 and remain in first place in the Southeast division. David Guerrera got the win in net stopping 21 of 25 Rayz shots to improve to 3-1-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 7, Corpus Christi 4.
